Yesterday evening, Volleyball BC was lucky to be able to honour some of BC’s most dedicated and hard working coaches, officials and volunteers! Awards were handed out by Brian Hiebert, Volleyball BC’s Communications with Executive Director Chris Densmore and President Tom Jones also on hand to thank the winners for all that they do for volleyball in our Province.

Winners included:

Founders Award – Chris and Sharon Marshall

Eagles Volleyball Club Directors Chris and Sharon Marshall absolutely embody the ethos of this award. Having set up boys’ volleyball club Eagles over a decade ago, the couple have grown the program into a thriving volleyball club in the Fraser Valley. Not only do they teach the volleyball skills but they focus on the whole athlete, developing mature young men who in turn contribute back into their community. Huge advocates for the boys’ game, Chris and Sharon are fantastic supporters of Volleyball BC – thank you!

Not only did they receive the Founders Award, but also a huge thank you from their 18U team who rewarded all their hard work with the 2013 18U Boys Provincial Championships title last weekend!

Community Sports Administrator – Barton Lim

So busy running 5 teams at the event (!) Barton just made it to pick up his very well deserved award! Barton is the heart of BC super club Focus, and manages adminsitration as well as acting as both Head Coach and Assistant Coach for the boys’ squads. In his ‘spare’ time Barton is also a huge advocate for school volleyball and can often be seen at the helm of evening and weekend tournaments. Hundreds of young players have been introduced to Volleyball by Barton – please keep up the good work!

Ed Neufeld’s Community Service – Anthony Jansen

You can’t miss Antony Jansen’s club team Orangemen – the clue is in the name! Not only does Anthony run Abbotsford’s largest male volleyball club offering opportunities for all to enjoy volleyball, but he is also an active church volunteer in his community and part of the ‘Big Brother’ project where he is an excellent mentor and role medal for young men. Well done Anthony!
